The School Sisters of Notre Dame of the Atlantic-Midwest Province welcomed Sister M. Dominica Michalke, General Superior from Rome, to preside over their election assembly held in Baltimore, Maryland from September 7-12, 2025.
The election assembly convened to reflect on the future of the province and elect new leadership for the next four years. As they spent time in prayer and dialogue, the Spirit moved among the body of SSND Electors and called the electors to be of one heart and soul.
“We are filled with immense joy and gratitude as we welcome Sister Nancy Gilchriest to her new leadership role as Provincial,” said Sister Charmaine Krohe, current Provincial Leader. “Her deep faith, and unwavering commitment to our mission make her an inspired choice to guide our province into the future along with our four council-elect.”
As the Atlantic-Midwest Province begins this new chapter, building on the strong legacy of those who have gone before them, we look forward to a council who will continue to serve our communities and share the charism of the School Sisters of Notre Dame with a world in need.
The new leadership will officially take office on December 8, 2025, with a Liturgy of Installation at Villa Assumpta located at 6401 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21212.
We are deeply grateful for their “yes” to leadership, and for their passion and courage as they lead us forward over the next four years. May the Spirit be their guide and gift them with the graces they most need and desire. We give thanks to God for such a blessing to our province!
