In early December, Sister Kathleen Cornell and I attended the 50th anniversary celebration of the Investor Advocates for Social Justice (IASJ), originally known as Tri-State Coalition for Responsible Investment (Tri-CRI).

Founded in 1975 by congregations of women and men religious, it was involved in the movement encouraging corporations to leave apartheid in South Africa. It has grown significantly since then!

During the evening, both of us were encouraged by the many young lay professional women and men who presented updates on the companies and the issues with which they are involved.

The lay professionals shared their successes and possibilities for next year’s activity. Their belief in the mission and working as a team and with other partners was very evident.

We also honored Sister Patricia Daly, OP, a former long-time director who was in the forefront of faith-based shareholder advocacy, at the event held at the GALA in Montclair, NJ.

IASJ has grown into a powerful coalition of investors and partners transforming business relations through collective action.

It continues to serve at the forefront of faith-based shareholder advocacy, holding corporations accountable, amplifying the voices of marginalized communities, and building an economy grounded in justice and the common good.

We encourage you to visit the IASJ website and explore the wonderful, challenging work they are doing. Please keep all involved in prayer.
