After a challenging winter season in 2024 in which most celebrations were cancelled, the Sisters at Notre Dame Convent in Waterdown, Ontario, were eager to invite St. Nick back for a visit.
The cancelled celebrations included St. Nicholas Day, Christmas, and even the Foundation Day celebration of our Canadian motherhouse! Viruses were to blame.
Needless to say, the Sisters at SSND Waterdown were very much looking forward to a visit from St. Nicholas this year and they were not disappointed!
St. Nicholas (or Sinterklaas, as he is known in the Netherlands) arrived with his helper, Peter, to hand out chocolate letters and clementines to all the Sisters.
Two Sisters were missing during St. Nick's visit! Sisters Delia Calis and Maureen McGoey could not be found, so we saved their treats for them. (Look closely at the pictures for a hint as to where they went!)
As St. Nick handed out goodie bags to everyone, he thanked all for how they applied their talents and gifts to help the community.
It was a beautiful reminder of how everyone contributes to building up the community, thanks to our differences and not in spite of them!
